What is responsible tourism?

Self-made travelers realize the impact of tourism both on local communities and the environment. Reducing their footprint and supporting local economies motivates responsible tourism to leave old ideas behind and help transform the face of tourism today. The Habiba Community is leading the change locally, while networking with like-minded people everywhere.

  • Ecotourism means traveling responsibly— to places that conserve the natural environment, promote sustainable well-being to local peoples and involve education about conservation, communities & sustainable travel.
  • Edutourism is about traveling to learn—whether cultural, historical or natural education and not just consumer travel—and can include  short workshops or academic semesters, to volunteer stints covering a range of knowledge.
  • Agritourism refers to farm stays & activities at producing agricultural locations where guests are included in hands-on tours, workshops or volunteering.
