Our Heritage & Achievements: Pioneering Regeneration in Sinai

Founded in 1994 by Maged El Said and Lorena Rancati in Nuweiba, Habiba Community began as an eco-lodge embracing Bedouin heritage. Evolving through challenges, it pioneered desert regeneration and sustainable living in Sinai, building a resilient eco community that transforms arid lands into thriving ecosystems while honoring local traditions.

Desert Regeneration

Regenerating over 22,000 m² of desert since 2007, Habiba has boosted biodiversity, water security, and inspired 70+ local farms. As part of Ecosystem Restoration Communities, these Nuweiba transformations offer scalable models against desertification and climate change.

Community Empowerment

Through the Learning Center, established in 2013, Habiba educates Bedouin children in sustainability and skills, promoting equality and cultural preservation. This fosters jobs, reduces poverty, and drives collaborative Sinai community development.

Building an Interconnected Eco Community

Habiba Community’s interconnected model links desert regeneration farming, eco-tourism, and education into a circular system that drives sustainable living in Sinai. Regenerative farms supply fresh organic produce to the beach lodge, revenues fund the learning center, and youth programs empower Bedouin participants to lead future Nuweiba transformations and Sinai community development.

  • Scaling hands-on desert regeneration training for local farmers
  • Deepening collaborations with Bedouin families for shared resilience
