After School Learning Center
Cultivating Minds
Educational Resources
Our Learning Center is funded by the Sinai Date Palm Foundation—both being established in 2013 to educate & enable local Bedouin families. Set within the grounds of our Organic Farm, the Learning Center building & playground runs an after-school program for kids aged 5 to 13. While the sustainable model (date palm growing = school funding) works well, we still welcome any support to acquire resources for teaching.
You could support the Learning Center by bringing materials for our kids—art supplies, 2nd-hand electronics, toys
Methodology
Teaching at the Learning Center adapts a mix between Montessori & Steiner school-type methods—though teachers are free to add their own creativity and ideas into the program. Applicable education and advancing kids’ individual talents & interests also leans on encouraging creativity. We strive to nurture life-skills, trust, sharing, companionship and human closeness as well as academic subjects like language & maths in the children. We hope to guide development and enable more chances for our kids to realize a productive & sustainable future.

Local Impact
How do you measure impact? At the very least the Learning Center has shown that someone cares. Our after-school kids have shown positive behavioral change in response to teaching methods—sharing, individualism and creativity to name just a few. Holistically, sustainable models like the Date Palm Foundation or WOMAD (a Bedouin women’s program), help build economic alternatives with a purpose. As part of Our Vision, the Learning Center helps Bedouin parents with childcare & involvement in programs to help reduce reliance on traditional tourism.
